Artist Biography

Zara Cimone is a Brooklyn based, interdisciplinary artist originating from the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. She has lived in New York City for over almost three years, and has since participated in over 45 gallery events including a competitive submission opportunity from Camp Underground, a win at Art Battle hosted by UP Magazine, and her month long solo show in November 2024, curated by HelloTitte.

One of Zara’s proudest accomplishments in her art journey thus far is curating her first art exhibition in February 2023 entitled Black Art Is. The showcase displayed the art of several Black students attending CUNY in celebration of Black History Month, and many students felt empowered to share a variety of their fine arts skills from singing, to dancing, to poetry and more. The following year, in February 2024, Zara’s event became quite popular with her school, and she collaborated with other students and departments to bring the 2nd art showcase entitled Cultural Kaleidoscope. Her final showcase in February 2025, Sankofa, was an even bigger success as she collaborated with several students, clubs and departments including the Black Student Union to additionally showcase the Black Joy film festival. The event also displayed a reading of a student written play, multiple Black vendors, a DJ and honorary guest speakers. Recap coming soon.

Zara is currently a student and ambassador of her college’s unique, interdisciplinary program where she studies Studio Art: Mixed Media and Integrative Nutritional Psychology. Zara looks forward to pursuing her graduate degree in a field surrounding nutrition and holistic wellness, and she is dedicated to developing her art skills further and gaining knowledge of other practices in the health and art world after she graduates in Fall 2025.

I make a great effort to recognize the ephemeral nature of life— the good, the bad, the little things— and painting is my way of recreating the world in front of me, or the world of my vivid imagination. The sunlit leaves on the trees with tiny bites from a hungry caterpillar; the variety of people I sit across from on the train every day— I take note of Earth’s infinite details without even thinking about it. I value the fleeting moments in life because there is no guarantee I will experience something again, but it’s pretty cool that I have the power to freeze time in the world of a canvas. I make my mark as an artist with every piece I create.
